HSK 3.0 lists

HSK 3.0 is the current standard of the Chinese proficiency test, organized in nine levels. Levels 7 to 9 are tested together, so they share one list here. Pick a level to study its characters and words.

How the levels add up

Each level adds new characters and words on top of the ones before it. By the end of HSK 3 you know about 900 characters, enough for most daily conversations. HSK 6 covers about 1,800 characters, and the advanced levels bring the total to 3,000.

The HSK 3.0 standard also marks which characters you should be able to write by hand. On each character page you can see both levels and practice writing the character until it sticks.
