Meaning of 你们
Definitions from CC-CEDICT.
- you (plural)
How to use 你们
Use 你们 when speaking directly to two or more people, as a subject, object, or before a noun to show possession. For example: 你们好 (nǐmen hǎo), hello everyone. 你们的老师 (nǐmen de lǎoshī) means your teacher, said to a group.
你们 is simply 你 (nǐ, you) plus 们 (men), the plural marker for people. Notice that both characters start with the person radical 亻, so think of it as one person, you, turning into a group of people.
Common mistake: Learners often give 们 a full tone and say nǐ mén. In 你们 it is neutral and light: nǐmen. Also do not add 们 after a number. Say 三个人 (sān gè rén), three people, not 三个人们.
