视为 is a formal word used in writing, news and official language, usually in the pattern 把 A 视为 B or A 被视为 B. Example: 他被视为中国最好的作家之一。(Tā bèi shìwéi Zhōngguó zuì hǎo de zuòjiā zhī yī.) He is regarded as one of China's best writers.

Common mistake: Learners often read 为 here as wèi, the tone used in 为什么 (wèi shénme) and 因为 (yīnwèi), but in 视为 it is second tone wéi, like 认为 (rènwéi). Also, 视为 needs an object after it, so you cannot end a sentence with just 我视为.
