How to use 语法
语法 is used for the grammar of any language, and in programming it also means syntax. You will often hear it with 错误 (cuòwù, error) or 规则 (guīzé, rules). Example: 这个句子的语法不对。(Zhège jùzi de yǔfǎ bú duì.) The grammar of this sentence is wrong.
语 (yǔ) means language, as in 汉语 (Hànyǔ), and 法 (fǎ) means method or rule, as in 方法 (fāngfǎ). Put them together and you get the rules of a language: grammar.
Common mistake: Learners sometimes confuse 语 (yǔ) with 话 (huà) because both have the 讠 side and relate to speech, but 话法 is not a word. Also keep the tones clear: yǔ is third tone and fǎ is third tone, so in speech the first one rises and sounds like yú fǎ.
