Meaning of 上升
Definitions from CC-CEDICT.
- to rise
- to go up

How to use 上升
上升 is common for numbers, levels, and things moving higher, such as temperature, prices, or a plane climbing. It often follows the thing that is rising. Example: 气温上升了。(Qìwēn shàngshēng le.) The temperature has gone up.
上 (shàng) means up or above, and 升 (shēng) means to rise. Put two words for upward together and you get a word that only points one way: up.
Common mistake: Learners often use 上升 for people going upstairs, but for climbing stairs or a mountain you say 上楼 (shàng lóu) or 爬山 (pá shān). Also keep both syllables fourth tone then first tone: shàng, then a high level shēng.
