心情 describes a temporary mood. It is usually paired with 好 (hǎo) or 不好 (bù hǎo), or with verbs like 影响 (yǐngxiǎng, to affect). Example: 今天我心情很好。(Jīntiān wǒ xīnqíng hěn hǎo.) I'm in a good mood today.
心情 (xīnqíng) joins 心 (xīn, heart) and 情 (qíng, feeling). Your heart's feeling at the moment is your mood. Notice that 情 itself has the heart radical 忄 on its left, so the heart appears twice.
Common mistake: Learners often say 我很心情 to mean "I'm moody." That is wrong because 心情 is a noun, so you need 我心情很好 or 我心情不好. Also keep 情 (qíng, second tone) apart from 请 (qǐng, to invite), which looks similar.
